How to use Supply Dilution Impact
Enter circulating supply, your holdings, and unlock/issuance amount. Read ownership share before and after and illustrative value per token if market cap were unchanged.
Example: a 5% token unlock
You hold 10,000 tokens out of 100,000,000. The project unlocks 5,000,000 new tokens.
- Share before = 10,000 ÷ 100,000,000 = 0.0100%
- Share after = 10,000 ÷ 105,000,000 = 0.0095%
- Supply increase = 5,000,000 ÷ 100,000,000 = 5.00%
Your ownership share falls from 0.0100% to 0.0095%. If market cap stayed fixed, price would fall about 4.76%.
Formula & methodology
share = holdings/supply. newSupply = supply + unlock. newShare = holdings/newSupply. Implied price if MC fixed ≈ MC/newSupply (when you provide MC).
Model unlock and issuance dilution
Token unlocks and emissions change who owns the float. Even if price does not gap on the day, your percentage of supply can shrink — that is mechanical dilution.
This calculator separates share math from narratives. Markets often price large unlocks early, so post-event moves can look muted or violent depending on positioning.
Use market-cap/FDV tools for valuation framing, and remember this is not a prediction of sell pressure.
