How to use Slippage Calculator

Enter expected price, size, and a slippage percent or tolerance. Read illustrative worse fill and notional impact.

Example: swapping $1,000 with 0.5% slippage

You swap $1,000 on a DEX with a 0.3% fee and a 0.5% slippage tolerance.

  1. After fee = $1,000 × (1 − 0.3%) = $997
  2. Minimum received = $997 × (1 − 0.5%) = $992.02

In the worst case within your tolerance you receive $992.02, losing $7.99 to fees and slippage. A tighter slippage setting protects you but can make the swap fail.

Formula & methodology

Illustrative fill ≈ expected × (1 ± slippage%). Notional impact ≈ size × price gap. Venue curves differ.

Estimate slippage before large crypto swaps

Thin books and AMM pools move against large marketable size. Slippage estimates set expectations before you widen tolerance blindly.

Too-tight tolerance fails; too-loose tolerance accepts bad fills. Simulate on the DEX or CEX you will use.

Pair with fee break-even and the converter for mid-market context — not as a guaranteed quote.

Frequently asked questions

What is slippage?+

The gap between expected price and fill price, often worse on thin books or large market orders / AMM swaps.

How should I set slippage tolerance?+

High enough that honest volatility does not revert the swap, low enough that a bad fill cannot run far. There is no universal number.

Does this simulate a specific DEX pool?+

No. It is educational sizing math. Real AMM curves and order books need venue tools for precise quotes.
